On 31st May 2013, the Montreal Art Centre will be hosting the vernissage of the highly accomplished Chinese artist, Yucun as he embarks upon his long-awaited world tour. Born and raised in China, Yucun was guided from a young age by fine artists of the royal family. His paintings are now widely-owned in private and public collections across China and the rest of the world. As he embarks upon an international tour including exhibiting in Kiev, Ukraine, Moscow, Russia and Paris, France, the Montreal Art Centre will be supporting his project with a vernissage in their International Gallery, where he will also perform a live demonstration of his calligraphic art.
By blending his traditional training with more contemporary subject matters, Yucun has been able to develop a unique style in his mature works. His work is characterized by broad strokes and vivid colors, which explore the harmony and complex relationships between man and nature. Yucun has won awards from some of China’s most prestigious organisations including the National Calligraphy and Painting Invitational and the Great Wall National Calligraphy Contest. He is a “National Level Senior Artist” and benefits from a State allowance for his artistic achievements.
Allan Diamond, founder of the Montreal Art Centre commented “We are delighted to be hosting the Montreal vernissage for this International exhibition. Yucun’s work is unique in its fusion of traditional Chinese and contemporary Western styles, and is a true bastion of the multiculturalism and diversity which art can foster.”
